I’ve been trying the brain brand-new service of Google : GooglePages.
It’s an easy tool to design basic pages on-line and create a website in a few clicks, like online blogging engines.
This service could be used by Small offices or shops to display their products and contact details.
. The tool is a bit difficult to handle as a first step but the idea is interesting : to allow anyone to create webpages without knowing any html, blog concept etc…
Avantages :
- it’s free
- It’s WYSIWYG
- you can edit online (like a wiki)
- you can store images
- there are more than 20 skins (i’m waiting for a skin countest…)
Drawbacks :
- only one site per user and gmail account
- navigation and modification process is a bit tricky (wikis are still the best tools to handle online modifications)
- you cannot be logged to more than 1 gmail account in your browser (unless you use IE and Firefox at the same time).
I’ve been designing :
- my personal GooglePage test site
- a collaborative site (anyone can modify) wiki like called "easywiki" : i’ve explain how it works (fr) on Crao you can try to add some pages :
- login : easywiki AT gmail POINT com
- password : public
Update (fr) : pas mal de critiques, notamment ici sur le respects des standards par Google, comme me l’indique Michel Duperrier. Quand au Wiki à partir de GooglePages, il a été manipulé par quelques CraoWikistes

“Brain new” c’est joli comme lapsus !
Mais il est vrai qu’à une époque où certains trouvent que l’apparence
(où la marque/brand triomphe) prend le pas sur le sens (plutôt
cerveau/brain), on risque désormais de davantage entendre “this guy is a
brand!” que “this guy is a brain!”
Huxley’s dilemna: after “brave new world”, “brand-new world” or “brain
new world”?

Et pan sur le bec pour moi aussi ! J’ai écrit dilemna au lieu de dilemma… Circonstance atténuante, il était 23:05 et c’était par e-mail. Mais comme tu le publies, je reprends ma typo aussi.

Il semble que le service à peine ouvert soit déjà fermé !
Le service proposé n’est pas très innovant par rapport à un moteur de blog. Je pense qu’il s’agit comme pour les services précédents (Google pack) de la communication financière pour maintenir le cours de bourse. Il n’y a rien derrière.

Utiliser google page comme un wiki en donnant son mot de passe ce n’est pas à mon avis une bonne utilistion de googlepage.
